On Wednesday 11th February we devoted the Healing Service to
a special time of prayer for the Survivors of the Bushfires in Victoria. We
were honoured to have in attendance, Her Excellency, Prof Marie Bashir,
Governor of NSW, Shane Fitzsimmons, Commiss ioner of the Rural Fire Service
of NSW and Lt Col Don Woodland from the Salvation Army.
The service was
widely advertised and well attended. It was an important time of praying
for all those involved. The offertory collection was given to the
Archbishop’s Emergency Relief Fund. The audio of the sermon can be found on
the Resource page.
Overall 250 people came along to share in our time of prayer
for the survivors and pray for all who are grieving the loss of those who
people who were near and dear to them. $3500 was raised for the Archbishop’s
Emergency Relief Fund. |

Prayer Night for Lupus Association
We were delighted to have the CEO from the Lupus
Association of NSW speak at the Healing Service on 22nd October 2008. Ben
Jackson informed us about Lupus disease and the work of the Lupus
Association of NSW and recent medical research. It was an opportunity to
recognise and give thanks for the people and organisations who work so
tirelessly to provide better outcomes for people diagnosed with this
disease.
The Healing Ministry prayed for the Association and its
members, for volunteers, the medical profession and nursing staff. Prayers
of healing and support were said for all people suffering this disease, as
well as for their carers. Lynette Medway gave a testimony of her recovery
from Lupus disease and conveyed her gratitude to God for His faithfulness
and healing power, and for the Healing Ministry’s support and teaching. In
2009 we will be inviting other health associations to the healing service |

Overcomers Outreach
Overcomers Outreach is a group of people that meet on the
first Wednesday of each month after the Healing Service. Numbers average
between 25 to 35 people who attend the service and then are led by Penny
Wilkinson and Chris Allan. They meet to talk through how the 12 steps have
helped them overcome addictions in their lives. It is a very positive group.
We rejoice in the Lordship Jesus has over our lives and we serve others by
sharing honestly about what happened to us in our addiction. God knows. He
sees our hearts, he knows our struggles and he has provided a way to
overcome these. Please pray for this group and recommend it to those who may
be in need of God’s healing through it (www.overcomersoutreach.net).

Healing Ministry’s 48th Anniversary
On September 24th we had opportunity to give thanks to God
for 48 years of the Healing Ministry at St Andrew’s Cathedral. A large
congregation of old and new friends attended a night of celebration and
praise for all that God has achieved. Dorothy Bird gave a history of the
ministry from her 46 years of attendance and Valerie Kennedy testified to
her family’s joy of answered prayer.
An encouraging sermon on 2 Kings 20 was preached and a
celebration supper enjoyed by all. Most pleasing, was the high number of
first-time visitors who came for prayer. It was a strong reminder that our
ministry is to those sick and suffering, who have needs. May we be able to
help many more people hand their needs to God for His healing.

We give thanks to God for the many people who come along now
as a result of seeing our new banner. |

Jim and Carole Holbeck are very active in their retirement
receiving many invitations to teach. They are
ministering in Winter Park Florida at the Healing Ministry of All Saints
Episcopal Church from 12 Oct to 8 Nov. They have a busy schedule of
teaching and personal prayer ministry. People from various walks of life
and denominations are attending their sessions.
We continue to uphold them in prayer and for the leaders
and congregation there. |

Many thanks to all who prayerfully
supported me over five weeks of ministry in India, England, Wales and
Singapore in September / October. There is much to report [email
heal@sydney.anglican.asn.au for full details]. It is such a privilege
to stand back and see what the Lord is doing for and through his people
throughout the world. Do give thanks! Pray especially for the Church in
India where persecution, though unofficial and illegal, continues to
develop. |
